I am thrilled to have found a partner in crime on the PR front! We've met twice already to go through plans for internet and our on the ground marketing strategies. I love having someone to bounce ideas off of and to help keep me on track. This is an exciting time to be on the marketing team for REST. We're building up from the very bottom, full of enthusiasm and hope. If you're interested in getting involved, please message me (Ky) here on our contact form or on our FB page. I'm looking for a full house of helpers: marketing, video, make-up, hosting, backstage. If none of that interests you, come up with something you can do and TELL me. If all it takes is a bit of work and time, I'm all for it!
We're opening up an Instagram account and prepping our YouTube channel. Crossing my fingers that you'll see multiple platform posts from REST within a month. Again: helpers are MUCH appreciated. :) Looking forward to our 13 March open meeting. I'm planning on making some of my award winning goodies to share, so be sure to bring your sweet tooth! Our games are always a blast to play and watch. Most of all, though, I'm looking forward to meeting everyone. I am on the hunt for enthusiastic and interested people. If you love theater, I've got something you can do to help REST. Don't forget to indicate your interest on our posted Facebook event for 13 March. Let us know if you plan on coming. We'll be looking for you!

REST has an upcoming open meeting on 13 March 2019. Here's what you can expect!
We'll begin with an informal gathering in the lobby; an old fashioned meet 'n greet with refreshments. Come early to enjoy some coffee, tea, and cookies! From there, we'll move into a closed room to begin our meeting. After a brief discussion we'll begin with the real fun of the night: games. There are a couple of games we play while standing in a big circle. One 'passes the go' quickly around the circle using nonsense sounds even the most seasoned players sometimes screw up. Result? Hilarity and fast game play. Another even faster game is designed along the line of the child's challenge to pat your head and rub your tummy at the same time. Players are asked to point, pass, and move across the circle - but the order is mixed up and you'll be laughing at yourself before long as you mess things up over and over. After we're all warmed up from laughing at ourselves, we'll start our favorite improv game. Two players are selected from volunteers. One is a shop keeper, one a customer. The customer is returning a defective item to the shop - only the customer has no idea what that item is! The group selects in secret something on the spot, and the customer must guess the item from clues given in the shop keeper's replies. Don't forget: we're announcing our upcoming production during the meeting. Be there to get all the info first! Wonderful article from The City Academy in London: What is Method Acting?

Scripts, scripts, scripts! The Board met last night to discuss our 2019 season and foremost on all our minds were scripts. We discussed several options, and set a date to make a choice after we've had a chance to sample the texts. Our venue choice was discussed as well, and we're following up on a variety of options.
Set your calendars for 13 March at 19:00! REST is holding an open meeting and everyone is welcome. We'll announce our upcoming production, play games, and do the whole meet and greet evening. The evening will open up with 'tea and bikkies' at 19:00 and at 19:30 we'll get into it. Be sure to attend if you're interested in performing! The scripts we're considering have flexible cast sizes, so there's the possibility of many small roles that can be filled by interested parties. Let us know if you want to get involved! Address: Hogeschool Rotterdam Hoogbouw, Burgemeester S'jacobplein 1 (near Dijkzigt metro station). Meet and greet on ground level (pavilion entrance); we'll head to a room after we've all gathered. Be sure to follow us on Facebook and sign up for our quarterly newsletter to stay on top of all the latest developments! |
